Michigan’s Oakland County to convert 225 trucks to biodiesel; expects to save $50K per year
In Michigan, Oakland County is converting its 225 heavy-duty truck fleet to B20 biodiesel by the end of the year. The County expects to save $30,000 per year on fuel and $20,000 per year on maintenance.
The announcement continues a steady stream of biodiesel conversions. The Palm Beach County (Fla.) bus system will convert its 115-bus fleet to an undisclosed biodiesel blend in January 2008. Last month, fleets in Helsinki, New Hampshire, San Antonio, Somerville (Mass.), and Thailand announced biodiesel trials and conversions, including a total of more than 600 buses. Also, Sao Paulo has announced that it will deploy Scania biofuel buses in a trial.
In Florida this week, NBC Universal announced that they would convert the Jaws ride at Universal Orlando to biodiesel.
