Tennessee grants $190,000 to Appco to convert three stations to biofuels
In Tennessee, the state has provided $190,000 to Appco to offset the cost of underground storage tank and dispensers installation for the sale of E85 or B20. The tanks will be installed at three Appco stations in Johnson City, Unicoi County and Sullivan County. The grants are funded through a $1.5 million Green Island grant program that reimburses companies for 80% of the cost to of biofuels infrastructure up to $45,000 per pump.
Appco, based in Blountville, Tennessee, distributes petroleum products to more than 160 dealers in the southeastern United States and owns and operates 56 convenient store locations. ReFuel America, a subsidiary of NewGen, signed a 10-year exclusive pact to supply biofuels to Appco. NewGen expects to supply 1 million gallons of biofuels per month, initially, out of Appco’s total; distribution of 19 million gallons per month of fuel.
