Louisiana biodiesel JV between Tyson and Syntroleum set to begin plant construction in ‘08
In Louisiana, the Dynamic Fuels joint venture between Tyson Foods and Syntroleum announced they will begin construction of an animal fat and grease biodiesel plant next year, with the $150 million project expected to be completed by 2010. Construction on the new plant is expected to begin in 2008 with completion set for early 2010.
Recntly, PetroSun BioFuel announced a letter of intent to supply 54 million gallons of algal oil to a new 54 Mgy Bio-Alternatives biodiesel plant in south Louisiana. Petro Sun announced in August that it would peg its algal oil on a dollar-for-dollar basis with crude oil, which places the value of the contract at $120 million based on a crude oil and algal oil price of $94 per barrel, or $2.19 per gallon. The initial delivery to Bio-Alternatives refinery will be in the third quarter of 2008.
