Gainesville Regional Transit System to convert to biodiesel

In Florida, the Gainesville Regional Transit System will convert its fleets to biodiesel in fall 2008.  The transition is partially funded by University of Florida students, who will pay a surcharge of 10 cent per credit hour.

Palm Bay, Palm Beach County and Universal Orlando are among the groups that have announced simalar conversions to biodiesel in the past two months. Palm Bay said that their B20 conversion of 141 heavy vehicles saved eight cents per gallon, and reduced gas emissions by 25 percent.
