Santa Cruz, CA opens 2nd E85 station in California
In California, the City of Santa Cruz opened an E85 station, the second in California. The fueling station will be operated by International Institute for Ecological Agriculture under a five-year lease from the city.
The opening is a result of a Climate Action Compact signed by Santa Cruz and UC Santa Cruz to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
100 percent of California gasoline is currently E10. Other states are also getting more aggressive about E85. Earlier this week, Delaware state Rep. Joe Booth (R-Georgetown) said that his state task force recommended a $1 million fund to assist the conversion of 10 service stations to E85. North Dakota and Minnesota have been established or discussed transition assistance schemes this year.
