DeLand, FL converts from B2 to B5; aims to convert to B20 by summer 2008
In Florida, the city of DeLand said that it aims to convert from B5 to B20 in summer 2008. The city converted from B2 to B5 in November.
Recently, the Gainesville Regional Transit System announced that it will convert its fleets to biodiesel in fall 2008. The transition is partially funded by University of Florida students, who will pay a surcharge of 10 cent per credit hour.
Palm Bay, Palm Beach County and Universal Orlando are among the groups that have announced similar conversions to biodiesel in the past two months. Palm Bay said that their B20 conversion of 141 heavy vehicles saved eight cents per gallon, and reduced gas emissions by 25 percent.
