Safeway to convert nationwide fleet to B20 biodiesel

In Colorado, Safeway announced that it is converting its entire nationwide fleet to B20 biodiesel. Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter and Sen. Ken Salazar attended the company’s announcement in Denver.

The Arizona Daily Star reported last August that Safeway Stores would convert their 79-truck Arizona fleet to biodiesel. Safeway estimated that the conversion will reduce the company’s carbon dioxide output by 3,603 metric tons. The company has recently begun to sell biodiesel to consumers in its Washington stores, and is expected to add Arizona outlets.
