Biofuels Digest Index plunges 4.16 percent to 115.49 as recession fears grow

The Biofuels Digest Indexâ„¢ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, fell 4.16 percent yesterday to close at 115.49 as diversified agribusiness and ethanol plunged.

For the day, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) fell 4.06 percent to close at $42.07, while among ethanol stocks Verasun Energy (VSE) dropped 5.42 percent to a 52-week low of $5.93; US BioEnergy (USBE) fell 7.10 percent to $4.71 after posting higher than expected earnings. Pacific Ethanol (PEIX) fell 9.68 percent to $4.29.  Declines led advances 15 to 1.
