Ghana’s leading sugar cane company to export ethanol to Sweden

Northern Sugar, the largest sugarcane producer in Ghana, announced Friday that they would commence exports to Sweden by 2010. The company said that it would commence exports at the 75,000 tonne mark, and will reach an ultimate capacity of 150,000 tonnes by the end of 2010.

Recently, the Minister for the Environment confirmed that Sweden would proceed as planned with ethanol despite a slowdown on biofuels advocated by the UK Prime Minister and the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.
