The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, gained 2.07 percent to 92.06 on a sharply improved outlook for The Andersons (ANDE). VeraSun Energy to debut E30 in South Dakota
In South Dakota, VeraSun Energy said it will launch an E30 blend at the Get-N-Go in Sioux Falls. The blend will be available for use by owners of flex-fuel vehicles. Owners of other vehicles are required by the EPA to use no higher than an E10 blend.

First hydrogen fuel station in California opens in Los Angeles
In California, the first hydrogen fueling station in the state opened in Los Angeles, near interstate 405 on the west side of the city. State officials said that they foresee a “hydrogen highway” in the state that will promote the commercial development of hydrogen vehicles. Currently there are 100 hydrogen-powered cars in the state.

Edmonton inks solid waste-to-ethanol deal with Enerkem, GreenField
In Canada, the city of Edmonton signed an agreement with GreenField and Enerkem to build a 9.5 Mgy waste-to-ethanol plant using the city’s solid waste. Enerkem is contributing the technology to the venture, while GreenField will oversee construction and operate the plant on completion.
