Natural Innovative Renewable Energy to build 60 Mgy multi-feedstock biodiesel plant in Iowa
In Iowa, Natural Innovative Renewable Energy announced that they plant to construct a 60 Mgy biodiesel plant in South Sioux City. The plant will use multiple feedstocks, and expects to partner with Beef Products Inc as a feedstock and operational partner.

In Iowa, CORN LP, the Gold-Eagle Cooperative and the North Central Cooperative have dropped plans for a 100 Mgy corn ethanol plant in Wesley. The backers cited financing difficulties in the face of rising feedstock prices.
Wallaces Farmer analyzed the new Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Bill, signed into law last week by Gov. Culver and found that the bill provides: expanded funding for pumps that blend ethanol at concentrations other than E10 or E85.
State Senate leader Jack Kibbie told iowapolitics.com “When I drive from Emmetsburg to the State Capitol, I pass by only one E85 pump. If given the option, Iowans would rather use the fuels we produce here in our state rather than import it from the Middle East.
Governor Chet Culver signed a bill that will provide grants of up to $100,000 for E85 pumps, and assistance for retailers who install ethanol and biodiesel. The legislation addresses a shortage of E85 pumps, despite Iowa’s status as the home of the ethanol industry.
The state government has fined Cargill $100,000 for environmental violations at the Iowa Falls biodiesel plant. Violations included spreading waste on land, but now is in compliance.
