Mantra, Northwind establish JV to produce cellulosic ethanol from wood waste

In Washington state, Manta Venture Group has established a joint venture with Northwind Ethanol to produce wood waste cellulosic ethanol from wood and other agricultural waste. Mantra will own 51 percent of the venture, called Mantra NextGen Power, while Northwind Ethanol will contribute the North American licenses conventional and cellulosic ethanol production technologies to the venture and will own a 49% stake. The company said that its technology would reduce the cost of ethanol production by up to one-third.
