Jamaica moves up E10 mandate from April ‘09 to October ‘08 as Infinity commits capital to island for ethanol development

In Jamaica, Prime Minister Bruce Golding announced an E10 ethanol mandate that would take effect from next month, following an agreement with Infinity BioEnergy of Brazil to supply capital to the island nation to construct more sugarcane ethanol capacity.  The project is aimed at restoring production on degraded, unused land.  Previously, the Government officials had said that a mandate would take effect in 2009, with a phased roll-out of E10 ethanol commencing in November.
