Biofuels Digest Index drops 4.13 percent to all-time low of 70.13 as Republican Party votes to abandon Renewable Fuel Standard, stuns equity markets

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, fell 4.13 percent to an all-time low of 70.13 as the US Republican party voted to adopt a ban on biofuel mandates as part of the party platform.   For the day, Aventine Renewable Energy (AVR) fell 4.38 percent to $6.12, while Cosan (CZZ) fell 5.43 percent to finish at $11.33.  Among small caps, Xethanol (XNL) fell 4.44 percent to $0.43.  Overall, declines led advances 17 to 1 for the day.
