Biofuels Digest Index plunges to new low of 64.96 on ethanol skid

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, tumbled 5.55 percent to close at a new low of 64.96 as ethanol stocks collapsed.   For the day, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) was down 5.51 percent to $22.13, while Aventine Renewable Energy (AVR) slumped 15.22 percent to $5.18 as oil prices and the potential for reduced demand took their toll. Among small caps, Momentum Biofuels (MMBF.OB) gained 6.67 percent to $0.16.   Overall, declines led advances 6 to 1.
