In Nebraska, the proposed merger between Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc. and VBV, majority owner of Indiana Bio-Energy has been submitted to shareholders for approval. Iniania Bio-Energy commence operation of its 100 Mgy corn ethanol plant last month, with Aventine Renewable Energy marketing ethanol and CHS marketing the dried distillers grains for the plant. Following the merger, selected VBV shareholders will invest $60 million in Green Plains stock. VBV was established a a joint venture between the Irish wase management company NTR and Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group through its Virgin Green Fund.
