In Iowa, the Iowa State Power Fund Board has approved a $14.75 million grant for the Poet demonstration-scale cellulosic ethanol plant proposed for Emmitsburg. The grant brought total support for the project from the state to $20 million. Poet had said that it could not go forward with the project without $20 million in state support. The $300 million project is also supported by an $80 million DOE grant, and is expected to open in 2011.
