In France, Cargill announced a partnership with French biodiesel producer Diester Industrie to open a new oilseed crushing plant this month. As part of the partnership, Cargill Atlantique purchased a 25-percent holding in the Diester Atlantique biodiesel plant. Total investment for the project is $100 million. Diester Industrie operates 10 biodiesel units in France. The plant will crush 600,000 tonnes of rapeseed into 350,000 tonnes of meal and 250,000 tonnes of oil.
