In Japan, Sumitomo disclosed to the Bloomberg news service that it is planning to invest up to $281 million in an ethanol joint venture in Brazil. The company did not disclose the partner, but said that it would hold less than a 50 percent stake in the venture. In related news, Sojitz said that its joint venture with Brazil’s Odebrecht will raise it’s production capacity to 793 million gallons by 2015, six years ahead of the previously announced capacity ramp-up schedule.
