In the Philippines, Basic Energy announced an agreement with Germany’s MAN Ferrostaal Industrieanlagen for renewable energy and fuel projects in the islands. MAN said that it may invest directly in Basic, in addition to participating in projects as an engineering, sourcing and construction contractor. Basic last month announced its 19 Mgy cassava ethanol project in the Zamboanga Peninsula, that would also produce up to 8 MW of renewable power. Basic and Canada’s Nexum will jointly build, own and operate the plant.
