US to consume 29 percent of world’s biodiesel by 2012, study finds

US biodiesel consumption will increase to 19 percent of world supply by 2012, according to a new study from SRI of the global biodiesel market. SRI researchers found 50 percent growth from 2002-2007 in the US and projected a 30 percent expansion between 2007 and 2012. The reseachers reported tat Europe’s share of global biodiesel capacity had fallen from 83 percent in 2003 to 46 percent in 2007, with North America rising to 23 percent and Asia to 19 percent.
