Marine Sciences Laboratory researches open-ocean algae, CO2 sequestration in sea grasses

In Washington State, the Marine Sciences Laboratory in Sequim has turned its attention to open-ocean aquaculture for algae development. The organization has been researching algae for six years under contracts with the Department of Energy. The facilities lans are also investigating the use of sea grasses to sequester CO2, including eelgrass that is also important in blocking coastal erosion.
