Forbes magazine named Novozymes and POET as two of its eight renewable energy companies to watch. The article is this week’s issue highlighted the role of enzymes from Novozymes in converting waste and agricultural residues into energy; POET was highlighted as one of the “Big Three” of ethanol production, and as the “ethanol manufacturer in the corn belt that competitors are watching”. The company has higher-yield production process for first-generation ethanol and a hybrid plant strategy for second-generation ethanol, with traditional process utilizing corn starches and sugars, and cellulosic process converting plant cellulose.
