The FAO released a report showing that European forest area is on the increase, by 13 million cubic feet annually, with forest area growing by 32 million acres since 1993, or an area the size of Greece. Separate studies are showing that increased climate change impact is causing forests to grow faster and store more carbon. The FAO called for greater cooperation from the 46 European nations to take maximum advantage of the growing forest areas. A Rome meeting this week, European Forest Week, will discuss coordinated policies.
