Nandan Biomatrix to plant 1.7 million acres of jatropha in India; adds up to 763 Mgy to Indian capacity

In India, Nandan Biomatrix said that it will plant 1.7 million acres in Hyderabad with jatropha, adding a potential 763 Mgy of jatropha oil to Indian capacity.

The projection is based on a projected yield of 450 gallons per acre. The company will contract with local franchisees, providing seeds and other inputs and buying back the crop after harvest, The company has signed with jatropha varietal providers in Malaysia and Vietnam, and is seeking $30 million for its expansion efforts.
