In Kenya, a top agricultural ministry official said that he expects $500 million in new foreign direct investment in the country related to biofuels in the next two years. Romano Kiome, permanent secretary in the agriculture ministry, told Reuters that he expects investments related to jatropha, croton, sweet sorghum and sugar, based on favorable leases to foreign companies on 500,000 acres that will support fuel for domestic and export markets.
