In South Dakota, researchers say that a switchgrass development plan for biofuels will also benefit hunters and waterfowl, by developing 1400 acres of text warm-season grass plots for a three-year switchgrass research project. The researchers said that 50 to 80 percent of US waterfowl use the grasslands for breeding, and noted that it was particularly prized as a breeding ground for pheasant.
