Obama elected US president; Biofuels Digest election special

capitol

ELECTION SPECIAL

Yesterday, voters in the United States chose Senator Barack Obama of Illinois as the 44th US President. Sen. Obama and Republican candidate Senator John McCain of Arizona had differed strongly on biofuels policy, among other issues including taxation and foreign policy.

In this issue of the Digest, while we maintain our World Opinion and International News sections for our thousands of international readers, we are otherwise focusing coverage on a review of Obama and the subject of renewable energy.

Sen. Obama has named former White House chief of staff John Podesta, whose Center for American Progress authored the “Green Recovery” plan, as head of the transition team. As other new officials are named, the Digest will provide background coverage from a renewable energy and biofuels perspective.
