In Switzerland, a conference in Geneva on the environmental challenge of the aviation industry was held this week, amidst calls for even more stringent measures on aircraft emissions than those announced this week by the EU for its cap-and-trade system. Keynote speaker Roberto Salvarani said that the aviation industry was “dragging its feet” on environmental affairs; meanwhile, Eurocontrol projected that limits on airport capacity will keep aviation passenger traffic to a minimal growth rate over the next decade.
