BBI downsizes in face of biofuels development slowdown

In Colorado, biofuels information, engineering and conference giant BBI International is downsizing in the face of a slowdown in ethanol and biodiesel development. The company announced that it was closing its Salida, CO headquarters to save on costs and consolidating operations with its Lakewood, CO office. The company, which reached a high of 140 employees in 2006, has reduced employment to 90 as the industry moves through a wind-down of first-generation biofuels plant development, and with second-generation commercial scale development still in its infancy. The company said it would also consolidate its event logistics, marketing and media operations in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
