In the Netherlands, Biopetrol Industries said that it is launching its 109 Mgy biodiesel plant in Rotterdam and said that it expects to reach 50 percent of planned capacity by the end of 2009. The plant will be fully operational by the end of the first quarter of next year, according to plant executives, but will run only one or two production lines owing to the demand outlook for biodiesel. The company had originally expected to commence production last year, but was beset by permit and construction delays. The plant will primarily use rapeseed oil as a feedstock.
