Corporate Sustainability execs say energy efficiency, waste management, carbon footprint top priorities in 2009

Panel Intelligence released the first of a quarterly series of Corporate Sustainability Surveys, and found that corporate sustainability spending, as a percentage of revenue, is expected to grow from 0.15% to 0.26%, a 73% increase, according to respondents.

82 percent of respondents reported that investment in energy efficiency will be the highest of any green category, with a 20% increase in spending on waste management related sustainability projects in 2009 compared to 2008, and Carbon footprint strategy spending and supply chain management expected to grow (11% and 4%, respectively) in ‘09. Industrial Efficiency and Packaging, Agriculture, Energy Grid and Infrastructure, and Renewable Energy expenditures are expected to decline in 2009.
