Biofuels Digest Index gains 9.53 percent to 49.31 as global markets rise
The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, leapt 9.53 percent to 49.31 as world markets recovered. Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) jumped 12.15 percent to $24.83, while The Andersons (ANDE) fell 9.35 percent to $14.06 as fallout continued from a poor outlook report. Aventine Renewable Energy (AVR) plunged 36.76 percent to an all-time low of $0.43, with the com-pany now showing a market cap of $18 million, or less than the construction price for a small 20 Mgy ethanol plant, clearly reflecting a high probability of bankruptcy in the quoted price. Overall, declines led advances 2 to 1 for the day.
