Saras to open mixed-feedstock 54 Mgy biodiesel plant in Spain

In Spain, oil refiner Saras announced that it will open its a 54 Mgy biodiesel plant near the Repsol oil refinery in the southern port city of Cartagena in December. The plant is constructed, and is in testing now. The company said that it would use a mix of vegetable oils as feedstock for the facility, and would cost $44 million for plant construction. Spain has established a 2.5 percent biofuels mabdate for 2009 that will increase to 3.9 percent in 2010.
