In Malaysia, the national government announced that it has issued 91 licenses for biodiesel production with a combined capacity of 2.78 billion gallons per year. The country currently has 450 Mgy in capacity based on 14 operating plants. Government officials said that the national B5 biodiesel mandate, announced in October would contribute towards biodiesel demand, but said that the mandate would apply only to government vehicles until 2010 when it would be rolled out across Malaysia.
