Colombia’s Energia Los Amaneceres joins Farming Biodiesel jatropha research co-op

In Colombia, Energia Los Amaneceres (Sunrise Energy) announced a partnership with US-based social farming organization, Farming Biodiesel, and will become the fifth member of the Farming Biodiesel cooperative, joining members in the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia.

The cooperative’s goal is the production of jatropha-based biodiesel, and to provide a forum for knowledge-sharing. Each member is not only a working farm for the production of biodiesel feedstock, but also a local educational resource for area farmers interested in jatropha cultivation. The Energia Los Amaneceres adds more than 2,000 acres to the Farming Biodiesel cooperatives’ resources, and will focus on developing understanding of optimal planting strategies in tropical soils.
