In Indonesia, Washington Siregar, acting head of North Sumatra’s plantation office, announced that Chinese investors, now in north Sumatra on a study tour at the Perkebunan oil palm plantation and factory in Serdang Bedagai and the Oil Palm Research Center (PPKS) in Medan, are interested in financing up to 146 biodiesel plants in Indonesia.
Capacity of what are presumed to be micro-biodiesel plants was not disclosed by the plantation office, but Siregar said that the investment group was investigating the financing of construction projects that would commence in 2009.
