In California, Viaspace announced that it has started cultivation of China Giant King Grass as a high-yield grass as a biofuels feedstock and for livestock feed. The company projected that it would realize $20 million in revenue from its farming operations located in China. The perennial grass yields seven times the biomass from corn, per acre, according to the company. The perennial can grow up to 12 feet high in sixty days and produce four crops per year, Viaspace executives said.
