European watchdog groups award three biofuel lobbying efforts “Worst EU Lobbying 2008″ award

The Corporate Europe Observatory, Friends of the Earth Europe, Lobbycontrol and Spinwatch together voted the “Worst EU Lobbying 2008″ to biofuel lobbyists from  Abengoa Bioenergy, the Malyasian Palm Oil Council and Brazilian sugarcane growers association (UNICA). In making the award, the watchdog groups said that they were recognizing high levels of “misleading information and greenwash …in key European media to get their message out” and said that the lobbyists made exaggerated claims on sustainability.
