In France, yeast producer Lesaffre announced that it will invest $5.7 million within the “Futurol” program that will develop second-generation biofuels. By making the investment within the Futurol program, the company will receive up to a 40 percent contribution of the R&D costs from the French government. The Futurol project brings together twelve organizations to develop new technologies that reduce the costs of biofuel and ethanol production. The groups include the French Institute of Agriculture Research (INRA), the French Mineral Oil Institute (IFP), the Tereos and the Agriculture Bank Credit Agricole.
