In California. Ceres announced that it has commenced sales of switchgrass and sorghum seed under the Blade brand, and launched a Blade website at www.bladeenergy.com to accept orders and distribute information about the seeds. The company says that its seeds offer “double-digit” gains in biomass, and that the seeds can produce crops for growers on previously underproductive sections of farmland.
The company said that it expects to sell the bulk of seeds to bioenergy companies in the first year, but had set aside seeds to be sold to new growers interested in experimenting with the improved crops.
