In Brazil, the Louis Dreyfus ethanol unit LDC Bioenergia said that it would increase its production capacity by 33 percent, or five million tones, and invest an additional $1 billion in Brazilian sugar and ethanol operations by 2010. The company indicated that it was looking for debt-laden mills weakened by the economic crisis that would be available at an attractive acquisition price.
