Origo to debut CO2 capture, algae production system at England’s Liverpool John Lennon Airport

In England, Origo Industries announced an agreement with Liverpool John Lennon Airport for a trial of its Ecobox technology that will convert CO2 emissions from the airport into a feedstock for algae. The trial will commence in January and Origo set a goal of 24,000 gallons of fuel capacity from the pilot program, in addition heat and hot water from burned algae biomass.

The company said that it hoped to expand to a 289,000 gallons system following completion of the trial. The Origo system uses a photobioreactor to produce algae. The bioreactor is connected to the airport’s air-handling units on the airport roof.
