In Florida, local authorities in Tampa gave the green light for a 36 Mgy cellulosic ethanol plant by Verenium. The new plant will cost $350 million in construct, and will create 65 full-time jobs. The plant will utilize 400,000 tons of (primarily) sugar cane that] will be supplied by Lykes Brethers from their 35,000 acre farm. The plant will be constructed on 95 acres of the Lykes Brothers farm. Construction is expected to commence in 2009 and the plant is expected be in operation in 2011.
