In Washington, Capital Press reported on the “centrist” approach that President-elect Obama is taking towards his environmental and energy team appointments. While Lisa Jackson, nominated as EPA administrator, is seen as a strong environmentalist, Secretary of Interior nominee Sen. Ken Salazar of Colorado and Secretary of Agriculture nominee Tom Vilsack are seen as centrists, balancing the supporters of tradition land and food production development against the supporters of “sustainable agriculture”, while embracing new technologies.
