In Australia, the New South Wales state government confirmed plans for a $400 million expansion of ethanol production at the Shoalhaven Starches Plant operated by Manildra. The company said that capacity would expand at the plant to 79 Mgy, up from 30 Mgy at present. The state has a 2 percent biofuels mandate that will rise to 6 percent in 2010 and 10 percent in mid-2011.
