Georgia’s First United Ethanol shuts down following rupture, steam accident

In Georgia, the 100 Mgy First United Ethanol (FUEL) shut down production for one week after sustaining damage to its evaporator system. The Camilla-based plant suffered a rupture in a collared joint that resulted in a steam blow-off that caused the damage. The company said that the shut down will permit time for repairs, and an investigation into the cause of the rupture.
