In Iowa, the state Department of Transportation released its report “TIME-21 Funding Analysis”, and proposed the elimination of ethanol tax breaks as one means of solving a projected $267 million annual shortfall in the state transportation budget. The state has a variable tax rate for ethanol blended fuels, which now account for 74 percent of the combined gasoline/E10/E85 market in Iowa.
