Today in Biofuels Opinion: “ExxonMobil officials said the company could be interested in an investment in biofuels.”

From Oil and Gas Eurasia: “On its third-quarter conference call, ExxonMobil officials said the company could be interested in an investment in biofuels because it already ranks as one of the largest purchasers of ethanol to satisfy blending mandates from the federal government.”

From Hoosier Ag Today: “Ag Secretary nominee Tom Vilsack went before the Senate Ag committee for his confirmation hearing on Wednesday.   He vowed strong support for renewable fuels and for the Farm Bill. The 58 year old former Iowa governor repeatedly assured Senators he’ll represent all agriculture sectors and regions, not just Midwest crops. Still, Vilsack vowed to be aggressive in helping the renewable fuels industry, struggling with “thin margins,” develop advanced biofuels and improved distribution…Indiana Senator Richard Lugar urged Vilsack to keep the hope of biofuels alive in a bid to “reinvigorate” rural counties, “We’ve had mandates of gallons of ethanol that must come, and we have hopes that there will be a higher percentage of ethanol, beyond the 10-percent mix, and that would be a very important factor, presently.”
