In New York, Bion Environmental Technologies announced that it has closed down plans to construct a $180 million ethanol and cattle project in St. Lawrence County. County development officials expressed disappointment but not shock at the news, which comes as a result of a continuing financing shutdown for bioenergy projects. The company said it was not canceling the project, but would focus on its nitrogen and phosphorus discharge project in Pennsylvania as a shorter-term opportunity for the present time.
